Pros

It is smart to use a topic sentence to tell what work your are discussing, who is the speaker, and who is the author

Following the same order as the material is a great idea and helps maintain order

Summaries certainly should be brief as possible

Concluding sentences are helpful for ending your thought process
Cons

The strict order of having a topic sentence and concluding sentence can sometimes this can stiffle your flow of ideas.
He suggests not adding personal ideas, but sometimes personal observations can help you remember better.

No direct quotes isn't always the best because sometimes direct quotes help you remember important ideas or moments! Example: "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."
